About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
The Proposal Specialist will be responsible for preparation and submission of proposals in the Transformers US business Unit and work closely with the Transformers Business Development team and Siemens Energy Power Systems Sales organization to develop proposals that support and complement their transaction strategies.
The candidate will be responsible for working on a proposal team as a contributing member, maintaining and upgrading proposal templates, format, standard content, and related pricing tools to support product and service enhancements over time. The candidate will work closely with the project execution team to assure that proposal content and related scope of supply descriptions and schedules of delivery can be fully supported, and that estimated costs associated with the scope of work are documented in accordance with requisite approval processes.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Register RFQ and RFP from customer in Salesforce.com database and submitting information to transformer factory for proposal preparation. Assist factories with any technical, legal or commercial clarifications, including coordination with internal and/or external technical, legal or commercial resources, customers, consultants, etc.
- Prepare final proposal for submittal to customer, including any documentation such as technical data sheets, bids forms, commercial forms, legal forms, bid bonds, etc. Track bid results in Salesforce.com and participate in negotiations and bid modifications as necessary.
- Receive orders from customers and prepare order entry information to transfer to project management and contract administration team. Participate in internal and/or external kickoff meetings as required to facilitate the smooth transfer of orders.
- Enable Siemens Energy Inc. to provide state of the art power transformers to the US power grid and keep the lights on.
- Conform to the commercial policies of the Transformers business, including cost/price determination, profit requirements, understanding cash flow, understanding contractual terms and conditions, as they relate to Siemens Energy policy, as well as LoA and Compliance requirements.
What You Bring
- BS/BA in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 or more years of experience in offer preparation and sales support. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
- Solid understanding of purchase order contract terms and their legal implications.
- Ability to interpret and ensure compliance with technical and commercial contract specifications.
- Proficient in reviewing drawings, bills of material, and related technical documentation.
- Detail-oriented and quality-focused, with strong time management skills and a drive for continuous improvement.
Travel, as needed (~5%); Some domestic and international travel may be required on an infrequent basis for coordination with manufacturing facilities including occasional visits to factories.
