A Snapshot of Your Day

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the Orlando Blades and Vanes procurement team has access to the data, reports, and automation processes they need to keep the business running smoothly. Using your understanding of both data principles and business needs, you will serve as the bridge between the data science team and the business staff. You will work on a wide range of data-related tasks including proposing new reporting solutions, working with business staff to define and communicate their needs, collaborating with the data science team on solution development, validating data output, providing training and assistance to business staff, and helping to drive data projects forward generally. To be successful in this role, you will need to be adaptable, collaborative, and able to communicate technical concepts in a way that is accessible to a diverse audience.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Collaborate with business staff in blades and vanes operative procurement, commodity strategy, and supplier quality to define project requirements and when appropriate develop proof-of-concept projects or help build interim solutions to timely data needs for the business.
  • Communicate the needs of the Orlando procurement team to your data science colleagues and work with the data science team to make sure business needs are met through collection of rigorous feedback and facilitation of user testing protocols.
  • Proactively seek out staff feedback on existing data tools and propose areas for improvement.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency through output validation and correction. Helping to identify or document bugs and errors in production BI and advanced analytics tools.
  • Assist the data science team in updating existing data dashboards, troubleshooting legacy excel files, and other miscellaneous data tasks.
  • Prepare and deliver formal internal trainings to support business staff, engage in informal upskilling efforts, and promote a data-driven culture across the Orlando-based blades and vanes procurement business units.

What You Bring

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in data analytics or other field of study with a strong data focus (e.g., Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, Business with data emphasis, Engineering, etc.)
  • 1+ years of experience completing data-based work in a business context.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff to solve problems. Comfort working in an international and multi-cultural working environment.
  • Familiarity and entry-level proficiency with data analytics concepts, supply-chain management data, and common data analytics application tools and/or programming languages (e.g. PowerBI, Alteryx, Snowflake, SQL, Python, R, Excel, SAP).
  • Previous experience in gas turbine procurement, strategic planning, and/or quality assurance is a plus!
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
