A Snapshot of Your Day

A day in Steam Turbine Service Engineering varies depending on what is going on in the fleet of operating units. Some projects are emergent, and the needed tasks depend on the specifics of the service need but are usually relatively urgent. Individual tasks would be defined and prioritized by experienced engineers. Summer intern responsibility would be to work with other engineers to gather information and support service decisions. More experienced engineers would review and take responsibility for the work, but the summer intern would be part of the process up to communicating recommendations to internal partners in the field and potentially the customer.

Other projects have longer and less urgent time constraints. These projects are controlled by experienced engineers and allow for focused work periods. Projects will be targeted to fit well within the summer working period.

Each day in Service Engineering is different, but each day you will have interaction with mentor engineers as well as other engineers in the group. Microsoft Teams is heavily utilized for daily business as our engineers are in multiple sites around the country and the world.
