Position Title: Service Technician 

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Wind Technician – Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the operational performance and availability of wind turbine assets at Noupoort Wind Farm. Acting as a technical expert on-site, you will lead maintenance and repair activities while ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational excellence.

Your day will involve hands-on troubleshooting of complex systems, analyzing turbine performance data, and supporting continuous improvement of maintenance strategies. You will also guide junior technicians and contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient, and high-performing work environment.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues on wind turbines
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including component replacement and system repairs
• Conduct functional testing of control systems, electrical equipment, and mechanical components
• Execute maintenance activities using specialized tools and equipment in line with engineering standards
• Analyze SCADA data to identify performance trends, anticipate failures, and improve maintenance planning
• Prepare detailed service reports, maintenance logs, and incident documentation
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to support complex interventions
• Lead daily site activities, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
• Provide on-the-job training and technical guidance to junior technicians
• Ensure strict adherence to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols
• Contribute to minimizing turbine downtime through proactive and reactive maintenance strategies

What You Bring

Vocational training or Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related technical field
• 5+ years of experience in wind turbine maintenance or similar roles within heavy industry
• Strong expertise in electrical systems, mechanical components, hydraulics, and control systems
• Hands-on experience in diagnosing and repairing complex technical issues
• Proficiency in SCADA systems and performance monitoring tools
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and specialized maintenance equipment
• High voltage knowledge is a strong advantage
