About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Senior Design Engineer at Siemens Gamesa, you will begin your day working with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and develop innovative solutions for wind turbine maintenance. Your main focus will be on crafting craneless methodologies for major component replacements, ensuring the highest standards of efficiency and safety. You will dedicate time to crafting and validating CAD models, conducting FEA simulations, and talking to suppliers. Field validation trials and root cause analysis of field failures will keep you engaged and challenged. By the end of the day, you will have contributed to the flawless performance of our wind turbines.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Craft and develop mechanical solutions for major component replacement in wind turbines using craneless methodologies.
- Build detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings for custom tools, lifting structures, and retrofit kits.
- Collaborate closely with service, operations, and field teams to define design requirements and constraints.
- Conduct structural and mechanical calculations, including FEA simulations, to validate the robustness of your designs.
- Collaborate with suppliers and fabricators to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of your solutions.
- Lead prototype development and field validation trials to ensure the practical application of new designs.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in wind turbine design, service engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, and Creo, as well as FEA tools like ANSYS and Abaqus.
- In-depth knowledge of wind turbine components and maintenance techniques.
- Hands-on experience with craneless maintenance techniques or lifting/mechanical support systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a dedication to safety and operational excellence.
- Base location would be Redhills, Chennai.
