A Snapshot of Your Day (Overview)
As a Senior FX Accountant & Project Lead at Siemens Energy, you will play a key role within the Cash & Bank / Foreign Exchange Accounting team, leading complex accounting and automation projects and ensuring the integrity of FX-related financial reporting across North American operations. You will leverage your CPA-level technical expertise, analytical mindset, and collaborative leadership style to manage foreign currency exposures, ensure compliance with IFRS and internal policies, and drive digital process improvements.
This position combines hands-on technical accounting with strategic project leadership, providing opportunities to mentor team members, lead process enhancement initiatives, and influence how Siemens Energy approaches FX topics in a dynamic, multinational environment.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead complex FX accounting activities, ensure accurate accounting, reporting, and analysis of foreign currency transactions and derivative instruments under IFRS.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on FX hedge accounting and other advanced accounting topics, providing guidance and training to peers and stakeholders.
- Analyze and interpret financial data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities applying strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Lead and deliver projects aimed at process optimization, automation, and digital transformation (e.g., Excel, Alteryx, AI, or similar tools).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Business Areas, Treasury, and Accounting teams globally to ensure alignment and transparency in FX-related matters.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to junior analysts, coordinating workstreams, setting priorities, and supporting team development.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including valuation of derivatives, FX cash flow impacts, and financial statement analysis.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA (or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or audit experience in large, complex organizations — experience in a Big 4 or large public accounting firm highly desirable.
- Technical & Analytical Expertise: Proven experience with advanced accounting topics such as hedge accounting, consolidations, derivatives, and other technical areas. Strong financial analysis and investigative skills with the ability to research, interpret, and clearly communicate findings.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Demonstrated project leadership or supervisory experience with the ability to coordinate teams, manage timelines, and drive results. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of simplifying complex topics for diverse audiences.
- Digital Mindset & Continuous Improvement: Advanced Excel proficiency and familiarity with automation or analytics tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI, AI), with strong ERP (SAP) experience and understanding of large global operations. Self-motivated and improvement-focused, consistently driving efficiency and quality in deliverables.
