Sales Application Engineer for Reciprocating Compressors plays a key role in driving the sales of high speed reciprocating compressors (HSRC) and related equipment to customers in various industrial sectors such as oil & gas, power generation, chemical processing, and renewable energy in Middle East & Asia Pacific (MEAP) region. This role combines technical expertise with sales and customer-facing skills, ensuring that the right compressor solutions are recommended to meet the client's needs while improving business opportunities.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities for HSRC in target sectors/region, alongside Sales people in regions and in countries
  • Promote and sell HSRC and related equipment directly or via packagers and resellers by understanding customer needs and matching them with suitable product offerings.
  • Conduct presentations and technical discussions with potential clients to explain product capabilities, technical advantages, and value propositions.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients, ensuring repeat business and customer loyalty.
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance in selecting the appropriate HSRC solutions based on customer requirements, application specifications, and site conditions.
  • Assist clients in understanding how HSRC fit into their system designs and operational workflows.
  • Prepare and deliver technical proposals, including calculations, performance data, user documentation, and pricing for compressor packages.
  • Evaluate customer requirements (e.g., gas types, pressure, temperature, flow rates) and assist with compressor selection and system optimization.
  • Provide ongoing technical support, including training for customers on compressor operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Prepare and present detailed quotations, including pricing, delivery schedules, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with the internal engineering team to ensure that proposals reflect both customer needs and engineering feasibility.
  • Provide accurate and timely follow-up on proposals and actively negotiate with clients to close deals.
  • Supervise market trends, competitive products, and customer feedback to identify business opportunities and enhance the company’s offering.
  • Maintain records of customer interactions, sales opportunities, and market intelligence using CRM systems.
  • Provide regular reports to management on sales progress, forecasts, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with the regional sales, engineering and product development teams to ensure that customer feedback is incorporated into product improvements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and logistics teams to ensure that customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate with the service team for post-sale customer support, ensuring that all installation and maintenance activities are driven efficiently.

What You Bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: At least 5–7 years of experience in sales, application engineering, or technical sales of oil & gas equipment, particularly reciprocating compressors or similar mechanical systems.
  • Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of reciprocating compressors, their operation, and applications in various industries. Familiar with reading and understanding P&IDs or other process related drawings. Familiar with industry standards (ISO 13631/API 618).
  • Sales Skills: Strong sales abilities with a consistent record in technical sales or business development, including negotiation and closing deals.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for communicating complex technical information in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Customer-Centric: Ability to build strong relationships with clients, understand their needs, and provide customized solutions.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to fix and address customer challenges, offering creative and effective solutions.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), Microsoft Office Suite, and engineering software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is a plus.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in specific sectors such as oil & gas, petrochemicals, power generation or renewable energy.
  • Travel to customer office as required for sales visits, presentations, technical assessments, and trade shows.
  • Stay updated on new developments in compressor technology, industry standards, and competitor products to maintain a driven edge in the market.
