A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Quality Professional within the Project Management team for Siemens Energy's Grid Technologies in Thailand, this role is pivotal in upholding the highest standards of quality for substation projects. You will be responsible for ensuring that all project deliverables and processes meet both customer expectations and stringent industry regulations, thereby safeguarding project integrity and business continuity.
The core of this position involves the development, implementation, and management of the Project Quality Plan (PQP). This includes defining quality metrics, conducting audits, managing non-conformances through corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and overseeing supplier quality. You will act as the central point for all quality-related matters, ensuring compliance and driving a culture of excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned quality expert with a strong background in quality management systems, particularly ISO 9001, within an industrial or energy project environment. You must be adept at root cause analysis, process improvement methodologies, and stakeholder communication. This role requires the ability to work independently on complex quality challenges, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to quality standards across the project team.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Quality Planning and System Management 40%
- Establish, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP) in accordance with contractual requirements, Grid Technologies standards, and applicable international standards (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 10005 / ISO 10006).
- Ensure full integration of customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements through compliance matrices and controlled processes, ensuring traceability throughout the HV substation project lifecycle.
- Define, monitor, and manage quality objectives, KPIs, and target values, aligned with project‑critical success factors.
- Ensure consistent application of the Quality Management System (QMS) across project execution, including effective alignment between HQ processes and site activities.
- Support project management in quality-related risk management, milestone planning, and achievement of Quality Gates, including readiness checks and gate reviews.
- Coordinate with internal interfaces (engineering, procurement, site, commissioning) and external parties to ensure transparent and compliant quality governance across all disciplines.
Quality Assurance and Control 40%
- Ensure execution of project activities in compliance with approved processes, quality plans, specifications, and inspection & test plans (ITPs) for HV substation systems and equipment.
- Plan, coordinate, and participate in supplier and subcontractor quality activities, including selection, qualification, audits, assessments, and performance monitoring.
- Review and approve supplier documentation, manufacturing records, inspection reports, and test results for HV equipment (e.g. GIS/AIS, transformers, protection & control panels).
- Participate in and witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), ensuring conformity with contractual and technical requirements.
- Manage non‑conformities (NCRs) through structured root cause analysis and implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Exercise professional authority to withhold releases, milestones, or deliveries when quality requirements are not met, ensuring timely escalation to project management and functional quality lines.
Continuous Improvement and Reporting 20%
- Establish and maintain a systematic approach for continuous quality improvement across all phases of HV substation project execution.
- Analyze quality data, KPIs, incidents, and audit results to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Lead and support lessons learned activities, project reviews, audits, and assessments, ensuring effective feedback into current and future projects.
- Promote Good Practice Sharing and preventive quality thinking within the project and wider organization.
- Provide focused and regular quality reporting to project management, regional/divisional quality, and other stakeholders, including escalation of critical quality issues.
- Support development of project team capability by identifying qualification gaps, promoting use of quality tools and methodologies, and fostering a proactive quality culture.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in quality management within: HV/EHV substation projects Energy, power transmission, construction, or industrial EPC environments
- Proven experience implementing and managing quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) in complex project environments.
- Experience working with international customers and standards is an advantage.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent quality certification
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
- Project or risk-related certifications (e.g. PMP®, PRINCE2®, or equivalent) are an advantage
- HV / substation technical training or manufacturer certifications are a strong plus
- Full working rights in Thailand.
