Quality Engineer
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Quality Engineer, your day starts with reviewing emails and project updates, followed by planning and prioritising tasks. You collaborate with the project team to review tender documents and provide input on quality assurance plans and risk assessments. You meet virtually with a supplier to discuss quality expectations and review their compliance documentation, then update the quality management system (QMS) and prepare reports.
Later you may prepare for a site visit, conduct an internal audit, identify non-conformances, and discuss corrective actions with the team. You review quality control reports, address any issues, and conclude the day by summarizing activities, updating the Quality Manager, planning for the next day, and responding to remaining emails, ensuring meticulous management of quality assurance and control activities across projects.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Assist with Tender estimates from a quality perspective
Production of Quality Plans, Audit Schedules, Manufacturing Assurance Plans
Assist and/or conduct audits both internally and of the contracted Supply chain
Assist and/or conduct Inspections linked to Manufacturing Assurance activities such as Surveillance visits and Factory Acceptance Tests
Review of Supplier Factory Control Plans / Manufacturing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Installation ITPs
Carry out relevant PM Gates at the agreed stages of a Project and assist the Project/Site teams with any Quality related issues
Ensure that Non-Conformances are raised by the Project and Site teams correctly and that where required, Root Cause Analysis is undertaken
At Project closure, assist the Project and Sites teams in collation of the Final Records for hand over to the End Client
What You Bring
A career as a Quality professional in a project related role
Ideally experience of working with erection, engineering, commissioning etc
Good written and oral communication skills
Experience of working as part of a Project Delivery Team
Auditing skills
Full UK Driving Licence
Willing to travel to multiple sites throughout the UK and some foreign travel as required
About the Team
The high performing Quality Team in the UK consists of Quality Manager and Quality Engineers who support the Project Entity and the Grid Technology & Grid Services (GTGS) businesses. Within these there is a wide portfolio of prestigious projects including substations, HVDC interconnectors and wind farm connections, Grid Access, Flexible Arc Transmission and synchronous condensers. The Quality Team also work closely with colleagues in the Environmental and EHS Teams.
