Within our Manchester Renewable Energy (Transmission) organisation we have the Grid Access (GA) and High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) businesses, via which we connect clean and renewable energy – mainly Offshore Wind farms and Interconnectors, to the National Grids of the UK and overseas.

Siemens Energy Limited has exciting new opportunities for a Project Director for the delivery of a number of large electricity transmission infrastructure projects in either:

Offshore AC grid access connections, comprising Offshore Transformer Modules and Onshore Substations – for Offshore Wind Farm connections in the UK and overseas
Offshore DC grid access connections, comprising Offshore and Onshore Converter Stations – for Offshore Wind Farm connections and Multi-Terminal connections both domestic and overseas
HVDC Interconnectors – for Interconnecting the national electricity infrastructure grids between nation states


How You’ll Make an Impact

As Project Director your principal role will be the management of the overall project comprising of packages ranging from HV Equipment, Onshore Substations and Converter Stations, Offshore Platforms (AC & DC), Offshore Containers to Ancillary systems throughout all the phases from design, construction to commissioning.

  • Leading the project team in an exemplary and inspirational manner
  • Executing the project within the defined requirements (e.g. safety, time, cost, quality and functionality / system performance)
  • Ensuring compliance with all Regulations, Legislation, and Corporate Governance requirements
  • Providing professional stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensuring timely decisions on open issues, and escalating when necessary
  • Providing robust contract execution and administration in a professional and compliant manner
  • Acting as a project entrepreneur to maximise opportunities for improvement
  • As a senior representative of the business, you will strive to manage customer expectations and conclude the project to the satisfaction of both the customer and the business.


What you bring


You should have previously handled large and complex category ‘A’ projects preferably in the electricity transmission industry or have experience in the offshore industry and be able to demonstrate success in your previous project delivery.

Pivotal for this role are Leadership experience, personnel management and development, team development, motivation, and conflict management.

You should have a track record of detailed knowledge of Economics in project business, especially procedures for monitoring and control of financial aspects of project.

Experienced knowledge of project management tools
