About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)
The Production Supervisor oversees manufacturing operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production while managing the production team. This role includes supervising employees, scheduling, line balancing, and monitoring quality, efficiency, and compliance with Six Sigma, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Acting as the primary contact for production issues, the supervisor fosters teamwork and drives process improvements. Strong leadership skills are essential for success in this role.
How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)
- Ensure safe work practices are followed by all manufacturing personnel, addressing deficiencies and taking corrective action as needed to maintain OSHA compliance and prioritize workplace safety.
- Study daily operating results, meet with subordinates and supervisors to resolve production issues, and maintain cooperation between departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Manage staffing by ensuring correct workforce distribution, coordinating temporary staffing needs, and overseeing training for all new or transferred employees.
- Monitor and evaluate overtime requirements, authorize vital overtime, track employee attendance records, and enforce company policies when needed.
- Assist in mediation of personnel issues, conduct disciplinary actions when required, and continuously coach and develop the production team to enhance skills and flexibility.
- Evaluate production reports and metrics, monitor customer production requirements, coordinate schedule adjustments, and implement strategies to meet both short- and long-term business goals.
What You Bring (requirements)
- 3+ years of direct supervisory experience in investment casting
- 5+ plus years of manufacturing experience involving alignment, assembly work, casting, welding and machining
- Bachelor or Associates Degree or equivalent work-related experience (4 years)
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment, collaborating effectively with diverse departments, and demonstrating strong proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office software for efficient workflow and reporting.
- Proven conflict resolution skills with an hourly manufacturing workforce, addressing issues to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
