Siemens Energy
"We energize society" by supporting our customers to make the transition to a more sustainable world, based on innovative technologies and our ability to turn ideas into reality. With nearly 100,000 employees around the world, we shape the energy systems of today and tomorrow.
Grid Technologies
The rising share of renewables, growing energy demand, ageing infrastructure and increasing complexity require new connections but also upgrading and renewing of existing grids.
About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Mechanical Simulation Engineer, you will perform high‑quality structural dynamic simulations with a strong focus on seismic analyses for high‑voltage energy transmission equipment. Working under the guidance of senior team members in Germany, you will analyze the dynamic behavior of complex structures, develop and validate simulation models, assess multiple load cases, and provide design improvement proposals to meet performance and normative requirements. Your role will involve extensive pre‑ and post‑processing of simulation data, detailed documentation of results, and close collaboration with international reviewers to ensure technical quality and compliance.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Develop and execute advanced structural dynamic and seismic simulations for energy transmission infrastructure using specialized software tools.
- Build, validate, and maintain robust finite element models, ensuring their plausibility, accuracy, and compliance with design assumptions.
- Analyze structural behavior under multiple load cases, including seismic loads, wind loads, pressurized enclosures, permanent loads, and operational dynamic loads.
- Perform detailed normative checks of structural elements such as welded joints, bolted connections, and complex three‑dimensional stress states.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation of simulation methodologies, load cases, results, and conclusions in line with internal and external standards.
- Support design reviews and collaborate with senior reviewers across the American continent, especially South America, to ensure normative conformity and technical alignment
What You Bring
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience in structural mechanics and structural dynamics, with hands‑on experience in advanced analyses and simulations.
- Proficiency in finite element and simulation software (e.g., ANSYS or equivalent), including intensive pre‑ and post‑processing activities.
- Solid understanding of structural design methods (e.g., ASD and LRFD) and their application to dynamic load cases.
- Proven experience performing structural dynamic simulations in an industrial environment (graduate‑level experience and internships may complement professional experience).
- Ability to work effectively in English and Spanish at a professional and technical level, clearly communicating results and interpretations.
- Strong analytical mindset, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to independently investigate, learn, and apply advanced engineering concepts.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
About the Team
You will join a highly skilled simulation and research team that collaborates closely across regions and disciplines to deliver technically sound and innovative engineering solutions. The team promotes knowledge sharing, transparency, and continuous learning, working closely with senior experts and international stakeholders to ensure high‑quality simulations, compliance with normative requirements, and the successful delivery of complex engineering projects.
