A Snapshot of Your Day
The Mechanical / Piping Engineer for Construction Projects is responsible for supporting, reviewing, and overseeing all mechanical and piping engineering activities during the execution of industrial construction projects, from design coordination through construction and commissioning phases.
This role ensures that mechanical systems and piping installations are executed in accordance with Siemens Energy standards, approved engineering designs, applicable codes, and local regulations. The position serves as a key technical interface between Siemens Energy Real Estate (BSS), the General Contractor, subcontractors, engineering firms, and internal Siemens Energy stakeholders, contributing to safe, reliable, and high-quality project delivery.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- · Review and coordinate mechanical and piping design packages developed by third-party engineering firms, ensuring compliance with Siemens Energy standards, project specifications, and applicable mechanical and piping codes.
- · Supervise and monitor mechanical and piping construction activities performed by the General Contractor and subcontractors, verifying correct installation of equipment, piping systems, supports, and materials according to approved drawings and method statements.
- · Identify technical deviations, constructability challenges, and interface risks related to mechanical equipment and piping systems, proposing practical and compliant solutions in coordination with Project Management.
- · Participate in inspections, pressure tests, leak tests, flushing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities for mechanical and piping systems, ensuring readiness for safe operation.
- · Coordinate closely with Civil, Electrical, EHS, Quality, and Commissioning teams to ensure proper integration of mechanical and piping works within the overall construction sequence.
- · Support project controls and reporting by tracking progress, reviewing punch lists, managing technical non-conformities, and documenting lessons learned for continuous improvement.
What You Bring
- · Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial piping, including piping layout, supports, valves, pumps, HVAC, Fire Protection systems, compressed air, cooling, oil handling, and auxiliary plant systems.
- · Ability to interpret and review P&IDs, piping layouts, isometrics, mechanical datasheets, technical specifications, and construction procedures.
- · Solid understanding of applicable mechanical and piping standards and codes (ASME, ANSI, API, ISO, NFPA) and ability to align them with Siemens Energy internal requirements and national and international regulations.
- · Proven ability to coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and engineering teams, maintaining clear technical communication and issue resolution.
- · Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify risks, deviations, and improvement opportunities during construction execution.
- · Intermediate to advanced English proficiency (spoken and written) for technical coordination and documentation.
- · High attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality, safety, and schedule performance.
Profile Summary
Mechanical Engineer with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial or large-scale construction projects. Demonstrated experience supporting mechanical and piping design coordination, construction supervision, and commissioning activities. Familiar with international mechanical and piping standards and best practices, with experience working in multidisciplinary and multicultural project environments. Recognized for technical expertise, structured execution, and effective collaboration across project teams.
About the team
The Mechanical / Piping Engineer will report to the Project Manager of Siemens Energy Real Estate BSS for the STM300 expansion project located in Santa Teresa, Guanajuato. The role is part of the Siemens Energy project execution organization, working closely with Engineering, Construction, EHS, Quality, and Commissioning teams to ensure the successful delivery of mechanical and piping systems.
You will collaborate with global and local Siemens Energy stakeholders, as well as external contractors, supporting safe, compliant, and efficient construction execution.
