A Snapshot of Your Day

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to write your master thesis on a subject that combines your interest in advanced manufacturingmaterials engineering, and data analysis?

We are now looking for a master thesis student to investigate the variation in powder consumption within Powder Bed Fusion using Laser Beam (PBF-LB) processes at our Additive Manufacturing (AM) operations in Finspång. The project will be conducted in collaboration with our Quality team, with guidance from experts in AM process control and sustainability.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Gain an understanding of powder flow and consumption dynamics in PBF-LB systems.

  • Analyse operational data to identify patterns and causes of powder usage variation across builds.

  • Investigate the influence of machine parameters, work practices, and environmental factors on powder consumption

  • Develop recommendations for improving material utilization and reducing waste.

  • Contribute to sustainability goals by identifying opportunities for process optimization.

  • Present a methodology for monitoring and controlling powder consumption variation, including quality and safety considerations.

What You Bring

  • A mechanical, materials, or manufacturing engineering education, preferably with a focus on additive manufacturing, quality or production technology.

  • Interest in data analysis, process optimization, and sustainability.

  • Experience working independently and collaboratively in technical environments.

  • Proficiency in expressing ideas in speech and writing in English (knowledge of Swedish is a plus but not required).

  • A structured, analytical mindset with curiosity and strong communication skills.

About the Team
