About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
You will contribute to our business’ success by monitoring and improving thermal spray processes by new advanced inspection methods utilizing digital technologies and data analysis methods. You will help increase the efficiency and accuracy of quality control processes and ensure that all products meet established quality requirements. In addition, you will be responsible for machine reliability and predictive maintenance tools to support planned production targets and avoid unplanned repair work and machine downtime. You will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of manufacturing processes for thermal spray coatings in the Charlotte Combustion department.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Improve and develop new thermal spray coating inspection and test methods to improve product quality
- Implement and manage a digital monitoring system for quality assurance and preventative maintenance
- Integrate sensors, IoT devices and data analysis tools into the production process for real-time monitoring of production lines
- Perform root cause analysis and take corrective action as required
- Train production personnel in new testing methods and digital monitoring systems and update manufacturing instructions as required
- Collaborate and work closely with other departments, including production, R&D, IT and maintenance.
- Eventually roll out inspection methods and learnings within the Siemens Energy network
What You Bring
- Candidate should have a BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or other related field and 5 years of industry experience. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
- Experience in the development and application of HVOF or APS coating processes is an advantage
- Preferred knowledge of mechanical testing methodologies and metallurgical examination and evaluation practices
- Additional certifications in quality assurance or related fields are an advantage as well as knowledge of materials in the field of inorganic non-metallic materials (ceramics, ceramic coatings)
- Professional experience in quality assurance, preferably in the implementation of new testing methods and digital monitoring using IoT, including installation
- Familiarity with Lean and or Six Sigma philosophies and their application in process capability and improvement
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to work off-shifts when required
- Knowledge of Robot Studio or offline programming is a plus
