A Snapshot of Your Day
Join a dynamic environment where your technical problem-solving skills and cross-functional leadership shine! As the primary link between the shop floor and the engineering office, you will engage daily with operators, supervisors, and managers to ensure seamless production. Do you thrive on answering technical questions during the assembly of Gas Turbine Rotors? You will review design deviations with Engineering and coordinate with Schedulers to prepare routers for the next shift, becoming the “go-to” person for operational success. Your role also involves preparing reports and presentations for management, adapting swiftly to new challenges and opportunities that arise in the shop.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Drive Production Excellence: You ensure products meet Siemens Energy Standards by resolving process questions and navigating non-conformance issues through established quality channels.
  • Advanced CNC Programming: You will develop, test, and optimize CNC programs—specifically for Vertical Boring Mills (VBM) using CAD/CAM technology (NX) and Vericut simulations in collaboration with offsite teams.
  • Process Engineering: You determine and document the precise setups for tooling machines, defining how workpieces are positioned and fixed in relation to machine axes.
  • Technical Readiness: You provide the shop floor with vital data, including up-to-date CNC programs, posted code, set-up documentation, and detailed tooling/offset information.
  • Project Leadership: You lead manufacturing teams through the successful execution of products, ensuring the shop is prepared for both planned work and real-time troubleshooting.
  • Operational Commitment: You support a 24/7 shop environment, providing weekend support as needed to ensure our customers receive their products on time.

What You Bring

  • Educational Foundation: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or an Associate’s degree with direct experience). A minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Technical Expertise: At least 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment focused on heavy CNC machining and programming.
  • Machining “Intuition”: An intimate knowledge of manual machining methods (tool selection, speeds, feeds, and HP). You understand the “why” behind the toolpath.
  • Software Proficiency: Specific expertise in CAD/CAM technology, specifically NX.
  • Collaborative Mindset: A proven track record of working closely with shop floor personnel to solve complex tooling and machine issues as they arise.
