About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
As the MES Project Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in launching the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) at our new Large Power Transformer factory in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a rare opportunity to help build a world‑class manufacturing operation from the ground up.
You’ll lead the local MES implementation, partnering closely with a global template team while guiding cross‑functional stakeholders on site. From early construction through start‑up and stabilization, you’ll be at the heart of transforming how our factory operates—bringing digital manufacturing to life.
This role is based on site in Charlotte, particularly during the factory build and start‑up phase. We’re looking for hands‑on, collaborative leaders who enjoy being close to the action and thrive in environments where things are moving fast and firsts are happening often.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Own the MES journey from day one. Lead the local MES rollout from planning and design through go‑live and stabilization, ensuring the system is delivered on time, within scope, and ready to support manufacturing excellence.
- Bring teams together. Partner with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and IT to align processes, solve problems, and keep multiple workstreams moving toward shared objectives.
- Enable successful adoption. Coordinate training, workshops, and hands‑on support for shop‑floor teams and key users, helping them confidently transition to new digital workflows. You’ll be a trusted resource for feedback, change management, and continuous improvement.
- Connect local and global. Act as the key liaison between the Charlotte site and the global MES template team—representing local needs, sharing best practices, and helping tailor global solutions to fit site‑specific requirements.
- Support a successful factory launch. During start‑up, you’ll help coordinate MES activities, troubleshoot issues, and celebrate milestones—setting the foundation for long‑term operational success.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of experience in heavy manufacturing, ideally in operations, production, planning, or industrial engineering.
- Project Management capability, including planning, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder coordination across multiple teams.
- Excellent communication abilities, with a talent for bridging technical teams, shop‑floor users, engineering, planning, and leadership.
- Working knowledge of MES concepts, such as work centers, routings, confirmations, digital work instructions, and data collection (hands‑on configuration experience not required).
- Exposure to an MES system; SAP‑DM experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Comfort working in a global, fast‑paced organization, collaborating effectively with both local site teams and global template groups.
- Willingness to relocate to Charlotte, NC, if not already based locally.
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. (Siemens Energy employees with existing visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfer.)
