Snapshot of your Day

This Laboratory Technician role is a position created to ensure business continuity and provide essential technical capacity for the VR Jackson switchgear manufacturing facility. The position directly supports production quality and reliability through applied laboratory services. To achieve these objectives, the role is structured around three core areas: conducting detailed testing and analysis on materials and components, managing the setup, calibration, and maintenance of all laboratory equipment, and ensuring meticulous documentation and compliance with safety standards. Given the focus on non-routine analysis and equipment oversight, the ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of laboratory procedures from extensive experience, proficiency in troubleshooting technical issues, and a strong background in quality control within a manufacturing environment. A vocational degree in a relevant technical field is highly desirable.

How to make an Impact

  • Perform routine and non-routine biological and chemical analyses on materials and components, including sample preparation and ensuring data integrity.
  • Troubleshoot testing issues and collaborate with engineers to support the design and execution of controlled research experiments and trials.
  • Set up, configure, install, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation to ensure accurate and efficient testing operations.
  • Conduct calibration, preventative maintenance, and safety checks; diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
  • Accurately document test results, research data, and maintenance activities in laboratory systems, and prepare detailed reports for engineering and quality teams.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and manage inventory of laboratory supplies and chemical agents.

What You Bring

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey ideas, collaborate with team members, and interact effectively with stakeholders
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a focus on identifying issues and implementing practical solutions
  • Proficiency with relevant tools, technologies, or software specific to the role, with a willingness to learn new systems as needed
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate work
  • Adaptability and a proactive mindset, demonstrating the ability to handle changing priorities and take initiative when needed
