Position Title: Junior Solutions Engineer

A Snapshot of Your Day

Siemens Energy is seeking a skilled Workshop Manufacturing & Design Solutions Engineer with experience in both steam turbine and compressor operations and their components. This role is critical in enhancing our local manufacturing & repair capabilities and ensuring we meet the diverse needs of our customers. As a Solutions Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in steam turbines and turbo compressors to drive innovative manufacturing & repair solutions. You will collaborate with a dynamic team and engage with customers to deliver exceptional service.

How You’ll Make an Impact  

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of steam turbine and turbo compressors components, elevating the local capability in manufacturing and repairing these parts.
  • Utilize documentation management systems efficiently, ensuring compliance with authority limits when selecting and implementing manufacturing & repair solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues in the specialized repairs network and Product Competency Centres for compressors and steam turbines, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Compile detailed surveys on proposed manufacturing and repair processes, analyse and propose cutting-edge repair or manufacturing procedures for review and acceptance.
  • Assist the order management team with customer inquiries related to project planning and costing, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and requirements.
  • Work closely with service centre engineers to gather insights on customer equipment, providing repair or remanufacture recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development of Digital Inspection Jackets and advanced inspection techniques, both in the service centre and field environments.
  • Select, develop, and qualify specific repair solutions for projects using Finite Element Analysis as qualifying method, whether in the workshop or on customer sites. Develop the implementation drawings and 3D models to affect these solutions.
  • Drive the expansion of complex Manufacturing & repair capabilities at the Wadeville service centre, enhancing our service offerings to meet market demands.
  • Strong understanding of RCA principles and the use of FEA during investigations to come to a fundamental root cause of equipment failure(s).
  • Cultivate relationships with Product Competency Centres and service providers to develop and qualify new repair or manufacturing solutions, ensuring we remain at the forefront of industry advancements.
  • Analyse turbo-machinery process data to support modernization of manufacturing materials & methods enhancing operational efficiency and maintenance turnaround times.
  • Mentor and support the development of engineers in training, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Present recommended modernization offerings or investigation results for technical understanding and customer approvals.

What You Bring 

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 1 - 5 years of experience in rotating equipment, turbo machinery repairs and manufacturing processes. Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards, averse in the used of engineering drawing tools such as CAD and NX.
  • A minimum of 1-5 years in a turbomachinery and repairs centre environment, with a strong focus on both steam turbine and compressor repairs.
  • Understanding manufacturing processes, material limitations and basic CNC manufacturing processes.
