About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)
As an Inventory Planner, you will play a critical role in ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to support production schedules across multiple manufacturing areas. You will own the end-to-end inventory planning and coordination process, balancing material availability, inventory optimization, and financial accuracy within a structured Sales & Operations Planning (SIOP) framework.
In this role, you will work cross-functionally with Scheduling, Procurement, Finance, and Accounting to estimate inventory requirements, align purchase orders with production needs, and maintain tight control over inventory accuracy. You will manage the full inventory lifecycle—from replenishment and consumption to the reduction of aging and excess stock—while ensuring data integrity between physical inventory and SAP. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)
- Partner with Scheduling to determine material inventory levels required to meet production targets and future demand.
- Collaborate with Procurement to align material ordering, supplier deliveries, and purchase orders with production schedules.
- Estimate material and alloy requirements for short- and long-term plans while minimizing excess and aging inventory.
- Develop and execute strategies to reduce slow-moving, obsolete, and excess inventory, improving overall inventory turns.
- Ensure inventory accuracy between physical stock and SAP by leading spot counts, cycle counts, physical inventories, and driving corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Finance and Accounting to reconcile inventory accounts, support audits, manage inventory-related approvals, and ensure compliance with SIOP and internal controls.
What You Bring (requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in inventory planning, materials planning, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, materials planning, and MRP processes, with hands-on experience using SAP or similar ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Excel and the MS Office Suite.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communicator and collaborative partner, able to work cross-functionally with Scheduling, Procurement, Finance, and Operations to drive results.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
