A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Global Commodity Manager, you will be part of the corporate Global Strategic Procurement community, responsible for the definition and execution of the "Package Piping" commodity strategy, supporting our SE business and Gas Services in particular.

The components within this commodity are an integral part of the Energy transformation, supporting Decarbonization through Power Generation via various products and fuels.

A typical day for a Global Commodity Manager includes definition /execution of commodity strategies, negotiation with suppliers, supplier relationship management, stakeholder management, reporting, supply chain risk mitigation / problem solving as well as alignment meetings with an internal/external cross functional team.

 

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Manage the commodity globally / x-organizationally with special focus on components like piping systems and components for various turbine frames and sizes, various fuel types (e.g. hydrogen) and different system complexity (e.g. Auxiliary Integrated Package)
  • Lead a functional team of regional commodity managers globally; Leading the capacity, resilience and cost optimization effort for the commodity; Be strong interface to R&D, Cost-Value Engineering, Supplier Quality Development as well as other procurement functions
  • Manage relationship with direct suppliers and sub-tier suppliers globally leading to pooling/bundling of SE demands (new business and service) in close collaboration with alliance partners
  • Define commodity structure; develop and implement material productivity programs/ measures to achieve the maximum contribution to the targets; Define and implement negotiation concepts and strategies to maximize savings; negotiate frame contracts, execute E-auctions
  • Identify and mitigate procurement risks, opportunities, and market forces to avoid potential damage/ exploit potential opportunities through tailored risk/opportunity management
  • Build and maintain business relationships with executive management of major suppliers to furnish and obtain timely information regarding market conditions, trends, and their effect on price and supply; Build and maintain relationships with main internal stakeholders, ensuring the coverage of needs from business / execution areas

 

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related field
  • 8+ years of experience in procurement related roles (strategic procurement, commodity management) or similar expertise in related technologies, as well as building up and managing multi-tier supply chains.
  • Knowledge for setup of procurement strategies on different material fields
  • Experience
  • Capability to negotiate and to operate in different cultures as well as strategic thinking and strong analytical skills as well as knowledge of contract law and export control
  • Excellent English language skills, German language skills desirable; Travel percentage ~20%
