About the Role
As a Spindle Builder you will be responsible for assembling the components that make up a Gas Turbine rotor, ensuring adherence to safe and efficient production processes. This includes a variety of part preparation steps via glass bead blasting, crane lifts both at the individual component level and fully assembly rotor level, precision measuring of components, support of blading and detailed blending. Your role will involve a commitment to continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Provide critical crane support to the Rotor Assembly Shop, this includes training and acquiring a critical crane license.
- Glass bead blasting of service run components to prepare components for quality inspections.
- Using precision measuring equipment to confirm critical features of rotor components prior to assembly.
- Assist in stacking and tensioning of rotor spindles using tensioning equipment.
- Assist in blading of rotor spindles.
- Completion of blending repairs of service run components to prepare them for re-use.
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED Required.
- 3-5 years' experience as an industrial/aviation mechanic/millwright
- Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain Fork Truck and Critical Lift (A) level crane licenses.
- Ability to manually lift up to 50 lbs for short durations, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work with either written, oral, or graphic instructions.
- Proven ability to use precision gages and set tooling to high accuracies, preferably on large diameters.
- Ability to obtain an ACT® WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Certificate (Silver Level or higher) as part of the pre-hire assessment. Siemens Energy will assist in scheduling the test upon shortlisting.
- Successful applicants must be able to pass standard hearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests or any other as required to perform the duties.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
