Snapshot of Your Day

The Metrologist is responsible for developing, calibrating, and maintaining precision measuring instruments and systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role plays a critical part in quality assurance, supporting manufacturing, engineering, and laboratory operations by ensuring measurement integrity.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Develop and implement calibration procedures for a wide range of measurement instruments and systems.
  • Perform routine and complex calibrations using standard and specialized equipment.
  • Maintain detailed records of calibration activities, results, and certifications. Analyze measurement data to identify trends, inconsistencies, or deviations.
  • Ensure all instruments meet required specifications and comply with ISO, ANSI, NIST, and other relevant standards. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot measurement issues and improve processes.
  • Manage and maintain calibration schedules and documentation systems. Train staff on proper use and care of measurement equipment. Support audits and inspections by providing calibration documentation and technical expertise.
  • Ability for travel when necessary/planned up to 20%; must qualify for travel within regions of employment including all North America and Latin America. Maintain precision equipment within toolbox standards.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metrology, Engineering, Physics, or a related field preferred (or 10-year equivalent of experience that can be validated).
  • Proven experience in calibration and metrology in a manufacturing, laboratory, or industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of measurement principles, uncertainty analysis, and statistical methods.
  • Familiarity with calibration software and tools (e.g., Fluke MET/CAL, LabVIEW).
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 and other relevant quality standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification from NIST, ASQ, or similar organizations.
  • Gage Trak experience.
  • Experience with automated calibration systems.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Forklift certified.
