Title: Environmental Health and Safety Manager in Projects
Location: Orlando, FL
Position Overview:
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, LLC is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager in Projects (Orlando, FL) to coordinate and implement the EHS Plan at the project site and supervise work on-site to ensure it conforms to approved procedures and legal requirements. Provide oversight and support to the EHS Site Advisors and ensure they are implementing SGRE programs and policies. Identify EHS related aspects and legal requirements for projects and ensure they are maintained in a current state. Gather all NA ON labor hours to calculate the Americas KPIs. Establish, track, and communicate EHS targets through the Project Score Cards for all projects. Advise and train site personnel in EHS matters as needed. Conduct project site stand downs and discussions as well as project site assessments, monitor elimination of deficiencies. Manage the site EHS observation programs to increase proactive and reactive rates. Lead the accident investigation process and initiate root cause analysis per established procedures. Plan, conduct and participate as needed in EHS related inspections, assessments, audits, reviews. Participate in project status meetings. Ensure all cases in internal incident reporting system are classified correctly; risk categorized properly, corrective action implemented and investigated when required. Ensure investigations are conducted and completed, including proper hand over of corrective actions to action owners and ensure they are tracked till closure and verify identification of root causes. Develop lessons learned as appropriate. Manage and ensure compliance to the SGRE LOTO and Energy Isolation process. Manage EHS procedures for each assigned site. Ensure process and training is in place to manage compliance with dangerous goods requirements. Ensure risk assessments and safety alerts and awareness are communicated to applicable projects. Support specific Site Induction development for each project. Coordinate emergency response and drills for site. Escalate in case of non-compliance. Promote sharing of best practices and document lessons learned internally and externally. Verify compliance of Site Roads to verify compliance with engineering requirement. Develop Energy Isolation Procedures for all assembly and commissioning activities for all turbine platforms where electrical, mechanical, hydraulic hazardous energies are involved in the task. Identify, develop, review and update programs required to maintain regulatory requirements. Perform compliance assessments of new Wind Turbine prototypes. Verify HSE compliance of new Wind Turbine models before entry to US/Canada markets. Develop trainings for local work force. Verify lift plan for crane operations comply with local regulatory requirements and company policies. Verify path for crane movement comply with requirements set for each type of crane per manufacturer instruction. Review assembly procedures to verify Technical and HSE compliance with local regulatory requirements. Ensure project and company comply with OSHA Recordkeeping requirements. Responsible for the procurement, staffing/scheduling, and day-to-day functioning of on-site EHS Advisors on project sites. Travel to project sites at various phases of the project for various functions (site training, customer meeting, 3rd party audit, fill-in for as Site EHS officers as needed). 30% domestic/international travel required.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field, and 6 years of experience required. Full term of experience must include: Environmental Health and Safety Management System (EHS) and wind energy construction industry. Experience must also include: ability to read and understand single line diagrams; read and understand lashing plans to secure oversized loads; knowledge of EHS management principles, regulations and standards for working at heights, PPE, confined space, control of hazardous energy, hazardous communication, respiratory protection, electrical safety in the workplace and environmental protection from OSHA construction/ general industry, NFPA, CSA Occupational Health and Safety Code in order to develop and implement HSE programs, plans and forms required by regulation or policy; support project teams and work with subcontractor personnel; implementing and defining LOTO operations; incident and accident investigation and deep dive root cause analysis techniques and methodology; physical ability and fitness for duty to climb wind turbine ladders of 300 ft., temporary stairs and frequently walking on a variety of surfaces during varying weather conditions; ability for occasional manual lift of 35 lbs and experience with OSHA recordkeeping requirements. 30% domestic/international travel required.
