About the Role
- Design, develop, and release mechanical components and drawings for PEM and AEM electrolysis stacks, ensuring compliance with quality and project standards
- Lead the conceptualization, simulation, and optimization of stack components from idea to implementation
- Act as a key technical interface to manufacturing and quality teams, supporting seamless production processes and providing on-site support at our Gigafactory in Berlin
- Manage product data and documentation, enabling efficient transfer to future product generations
- Optimize designs through "design to cost" initiatives, balancing performance, scalability, and cost
- Collaborate across disciplines—electrochemistry, system engineering, and procurement—to foster innovation and deliver high-performance, cost-effective solutions
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required, with a strong preference for advanced degrees such as a Master’s or Ph.D
- Midterm experience in mechanical design within high-performance system sectors, ideally with direct exposure to hydrogen or renewable energy technologies and development procedure in general
- Proven proficiency in 3D-CAD & 2D-CAD software (preferably NX) and hands-on experience with FEA/structural simulations and calculations (preferably using ANSYS Workbench)
- A deep understanding of electrolysis processes, particularly PEM or AEM, including design principles and manufacturing practices
- Fluency in English and German is essential for effective collaboration in a global and diverse work environment
- Experience leading cross-functional teams with responsibility for budget, resources, and timelines as well as strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to thrive in interdisciplinary teams
