A Snapshot of Your Day

The Turbine Design and Repair team is responsible for supporting the factory repair of large fossil, nuclear, and OOEM steam turbine equipment. In this role, you will manage all aspects of repairs for both rotating and stationary equipment, including quoting future service opportunities and collaborating with internal and external customers. Your responsibilities will range from managing service projects and conducting equipment inspections to performing analyses, issuing manufacturing instructions, and addressing quality issues. Additionally, you will gain exposure to shop R&D projects, modernization efforts, and the design and installation of new apparatus. As a service design engineer, you will work across the design spectrum to ensure the integrity of Siemens Energy’s steam turbine equipment while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet customer needs.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead and participate in steam turbine service projects for Siemens Energy and OOEM fleets, focusing on rotating and stationary components, including blading, sealing, and extension shafts across various turbine frames.
  • Drive modernization initiatives and R&D projects, developing new designs, service improvements, and implementing shop-based innovations.
  • Develop and execute repair solutions by creating new designs or applying standard repair methods tailored to specific project needs.
  • Manage repair order execution by defining product requirements, releasing product definition documents (drawings, BOMs, process specifications), and overseeing manufacturing, assembly, and installation processes.
  • Provide engineering dispositions for field and shop inspections, address quality deviations, and deliver follow-up support for equipment manufactured at Siemens Energy facilities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers, offering technical guidance, assisting field service teams during forced outage recovery, and supporting marketing efforts for future service opportunities.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited university/college is required.
  • Two to five years of relevant engineering work experience, with candidates having more experience considered for higher-level positions.
  • Design experience in strength of materials, structural analysis, and machine design is essential, with proficiency in finite element analysis tools desired.
  • Project or team leadership experience is necessary, demonstrating the ability to deliver work effectively in a technical environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills are required to collaborate with customers, field and factory personnel, engineering teams, and management.
  • Knowledge and experience in the design or repair of turbomachinery, along with familiarity with Microsoft Office, SAP, and Teamcenter or similar IT platforms, are preferred. Experience with finite element analysis using tools like Ansys or Abaqus, as well as knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and welding processes, is a plus.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
