A Snapshot of Your Day

The Data Center Account Manager is responsible for driving growth, developing strategic relationships, and managing accounts within the North American data center market. This role focuses on delivering high-voltage and grid-related electrical infrastructure, related integrated solutions, and digital/lifecycle services to data center owners/operators, co‑location providers, developers, EPCs, and engineering firms. The position requires strong understanding of data‑center‑specific buying behaviors, procurement models, technology trends, and the electrical infrastructure that supports mission‑critical operations.

The Data Center Account Manager will collaborate closely with internal business units, product lines, and engineering teams to deliver competitive, value‑based solutions that address the evolving needs of customers in high‑growth and fast-paced digital infrastructure segments.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Sales & Revenue Growth
    • Meet or exceed assigned sales and pipeline development targets.
    • Identify and close new business opportunities across electrical equipment portfolios (transformers, high-voltage breakers, substation solutions, digital services, grid consulting, substation O&M/service, and other offerings).
    • Lead the sales process from opportunity identification through negotiation and contract execution, ensuring solutions meet both customer and company objectives.
    • Develop accurate sales forecasts and maintain high‑quality CRM data.
  • Account Strategy & Market Insight
    • Create, maintain, and execute account plans for key data center operators, co-locators, developers, EPCs, etc.
    • Maintain deep understanding of customer business models, expansion strategies, sustainability/ESG goals, and capital planning cycles.
    • Monitor industry trends such as decarbonization, AI/ML workload growth, transmission interconnection constraints, and data center power density evolution.
    • Research publicly available information (press releases, financials, planning documents) to anticipate customer needs and emerging project opportunities.
  • Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
    • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts across all organizational levels — procurement, engineering, operations, construction, and executive leadership.
    • Facilitate early engagement with customers and EPCs to position electrical solutions and services during conceptual and preliminary design phases.
    • Proactively pursue and develop new data center customers using market research and project intelligence to identify early stage opportunities.
    • Build long‑term, trust‑based relationships that support preferred‑supplier positioning.
    • Coordinate executive sponsor meetings and cross‑functional alignment for major initiatives.
  • Technical & Commercial Leadership
    • Conduct discovery sessions to understand technical drivers, project specifications, grid interconnection needs, resilience requirements, and cost‑of‑ownership considerations.
    • Work with engineering, product management, and factory teams to develop customer‑centric system architectures and proposals.
    • Guide customers on emerging power technologies and digital services including grid consulting, hybrid systems, microgrids, etc.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with internal business units to ensure alignment on product development, supply chain capabilities, and long‑term customer needs.
    • Represent all business areas relevant to power distribution and data center infrastructure.
    • Support global account management efforts as required with data center customers with global footprints.
  • Professionalism & Ownership
    • Demonstrate accountability, initiative, and commitment to high‑quality customer experience.
    • Promote a strong safety culture and adhere to organizational policies and processes.


What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field.
  • 5 or more years of sales or account management experience, preferably in energy or data center markets involving electrical equipment, power systems, and data center infrastructure. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
  • Proven ability to manage and grow client accounts, with a track record of achieving sales targets.
  • Strong technical understanding of high voltage and substation equipment, power distribution systems, and mission‑critical electrical design.
  • Deep understanding of US/Canada data center market, including hyperscaler and co-location business models.
  • Proven ability to engage cross-function stakeholders group including engineering, procurement construction, finance, and C-suite including excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation); Ability to work independently and collaboratively across matrixed organizations.

Willingness to travel up to 50% domestically, with occasional international travel as needed.

This job may be based in Colorado.  Siemens Energy offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay.  Details regarding our benefits can be found here: https://benefitsatenergy.com/thinking-of-joining.html.  The base salary range for this position is $93,400-133,400 and the annual incentive target is 25% of base salary. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
