A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Corporate Commodity Manager, you will be part of Corporate Strategic Procurement team (SE P DM SYS ES), responsible for commodity strategy of Automation which are the control systems in Siemens Energy like Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), SCADA and Network components.
Typical day for Corporate Commodity Management professional includes define/execution of commodity strategies, negotiation with suppliers, supplier relationship management, reporting, problem solving, supply chain risk mitigation as well as alignment meetings with internal/external x-functional team.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Manage Automation commodity globally / X-organizationally and develop material field strategies;
- Define Commodity structure; develop and implement material productivity programs/ measures to achieve the maximum contribution to the targets
- Lead a functional team of business area commodity managers globally. Expertise in global stakeholder management with over 50 countries word wide; Be strong interface to R&D, Cost-Value Engineering, Supplier Quality Development as well as other procurement functions. Bring supplier innovation into the R&D processes
- Responsible for Supplier Management: Supplier selection, incl. documentation, communication of strategic suppliers, regular supplier evaluations/classification, supplier development and represent the pooled interests of Siemens Energy to the suppliers
- Negotiate frame contracts; Identify procurement risks, opportunities, and market forces to avoid potential damage/ exploit potential opportunities through tailored risk/opportunity management
- Responsible for Supply chain governance topics like External Sustainability Audits and Procurement Assessments
What You Bring
- University degree in a technical or business-related field
- Strong professional experience in procurement-related roles (Strategic procurement, commodity management) or similar expertise in technology of control systems
- Knowledge in major market trends in Automation, e.g. Edge, Software defined Automation
- Capability to negotiate and to operate in different cultures
- Knowledge for setup of procurement strategies on different material fields as well as knowledge of contract law and export control
- Excellent English and German language skills; Travel percentage ~20%
