A Snapshot of Your Day

Join us as a Commodity Manager for Construction, where you play a pivotal role in building relationships with, negotiating and managing third-party contractors and suppliers provide construction services (civil, installation, etc.) and materials (steel, buildings, etc.) for Grid Technology Projects within our Siemens Energy business. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure our procurement activities align with project and business objectives, making a significant impact on our mission.

 



How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Be the main interface within procurement and to your subcontractors for your assigned procurement scope.
  • Develop and implement supply and subcontractor strategies which are aligned with the requirements of Construction and Installation of Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) and High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) plants.
  • Commercially evaluate proposals and conduct negotiations; interface with technical colleagues to support discussions/clarifications. 
  • Contribute to cost reduction and increased efficiency targets by providing your insight and ideas on how to approach/manage this scope.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with internal stakeholders (Procurement, Erection and Commissioning, Civil Engineering, Project Management, etc.) to support all procurement aspects for successful execution.
  • Utilize various digital systems to manage subcontractor information, requests for proposals, purchase order placement, invoice payments, etc. 

 



What You Bring 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Business, or Engineering, including a minimum of 5 years Civil Construction or Preconstruction experience
  • Advanced negotiation skills and experience in the Project Business field
  • Ability to work in a matrix multi-dimensional and international business environment
  • Team oriented, customer focused, time management skills
  • A positive mindset to problem solve, react urgently as applicable, and remain curious and open minded in a complex project setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals with differing knowledge levels
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20% of the time and on occasion internationally
  • Candidates not currently based in the Raleigh, NC area must be willing to relocate
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
