A Snapshot of Your Day
As a key member of our team, your day will revolve around the installation, primary commissioning, and maintenance of high-voltage switchgear, primarily focusing on Siemens Energy GIS systems ranging from 132kV to 400kV. You’ll be on the move, visiting multiple customer substation sites across the UK, ensuring that each project meets our rigorous safety and quality standards.
While this is a site-based role, you’ll have the flexibility to connect with our offices in Newcastle and Leeds whenever needed. Your professionalism will shine as you represent SE Transmission Service, working collaboratively with other teams to contribute to our collective success. How You’ll Make an Impact
- Complete on-site installation and commissioning of Siemens Energy GIS systems (132kV-400kV).
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance activities on high-voltage switchgear.
- Hold a site Safety Document/Permit for Work to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Document test results and produce comprehensive site work reports.
- Develop Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for work activities.
- Liaise with the project manager to report any difficulties encountered during the execution of work programs.
What You Bring
- HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
- Valid driving licence.
- Previous experience in HV substations, focusing on commissioning, installation, and maintenance activities, or in a similar industry.
- Demonstrated competency and knowledge of electrical schematic diagrams.
- Authorised to install and commission Siemens GIS equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team across HV substation sites in the UK.
- Experience liaising with customers and leading a working party.
- Familiarity with holding Site Safety Documents/Permits for Work and handling SF6 gas.
- Proficient in the use of test equipment, wiring installation, modifications, and mechanical fitting.
