Position Title: Commercial Manager

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Commercial Manager, you will work on exciting and challenging opportunities in a highly motivated, cross-functional team! You will manage the complete P&L for the assigned Direct Business Projects of GT Switchgears and Transformers in South Africa.

How You’ll Make an Impact  

  • Successful execution of the full scope of financial and commercial activities in accordance with Siemens Energy Project Excellence standards and Financial Reporting Guidelines, with high accuracy and focus on forecast quality.
  • Ability to handle and manage multiple projects and other transactional business.
  • Managing, monitoring and optimizing targeted financial results with due professional care (e.g., project gross profit, cash flow, assets and financing instruments).
  • Monitoring, controlling and reporting of Project costs, assets, liabilities and cashflow for multiple projects.
  • Identifying, and signalling deviations, managing risks and opportunities, proposing corrective measures.
  • Preparation, handling and monitoring of Projects forecasts and reflect them in the respective tools jointly with project team.
  • Issuance and timely submission of Project billing as specified in customer contract and regulations.
  • Providing information and commercial/financial reports necessary for project review, indicating deviations, recommending, and accompanying the action plans to be implemented.
  • Contribution to the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process.
  • Prepare documents monthly Project Review Meetings, assigned action items and monitor the progress.
  • Prepare and keep auditable documentation for assigned projects.
  • Proactively identifying Risks and taking necessary measures to mitigate these identified risks.
  • Managing foreign currency risk in the projects in line with hedging/currency guidelines.
  • Managing Hedge Accounting method for FX deals in projects.
  • Work closely with MEA Hub Head of Performance Controlling in controlling all relevant business KPIs pertaining to GT Products Business (Switchgear and Transformers), including but not limited to Forecast/ Budget reporting, Order on hand reporting, volume development, Profit Development, SG&A controlling, Headcount, Free Cash Flow Analysis, etc.

What You Bring 

  • University Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commercial discipline from recognized finance or accounting body is desirable.
  • At least 7 Years’ experience in commercial project management and Performance controlling within the Transmission sector.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office, SAP, Siemens Energy Limits of Authority tools and templates.
  • Commercial project management-certification is preferrable (CAT S or higher).
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Analytical thinking as well thinking out-of-the-box.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, good networking, negotiating, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to handle day to day Project related issues independently.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in time critical situations.
  • Proven integrity and high personal standards of behaviour.
  • Experience in working in a multinational and multicultural environment, as well as proven interpersonal skills and ability to successfully engage with diverse
