About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Buyer, you will play a key role in managing procurement activities for our Charlotte transformer plant. This includes supporting quotations, purchasing, and tracking machines, equipment, and materials essential for operations. You will collaborate with a dynamic team to navigate project-related procurement challenges while ensuring compliance with established procurement policies and regulations.
This position is based at our new factory in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. Initially, you will be involved during the construction phase, focusing on developing processes, refining offerings, and contributing to the commercial setup. Working closely with a high-performance team, you will help lay the foundation for efficient operations and ensure readiness to meet customer needs when the factory becomes fully operational.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Drive implementation and ensure adherence to globally defined procurement methods, processes, and systems to maintain high efficiency and compliance (e.g., Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) process, procurement guidelines, IT systems).
- Prepare and lead negotiations to achieve optimal cost savings.
- Manage the seamless placement of both direct and indirect purchase orders.
- Execute a range of procurement activities, including:
- Purchase order maintenance and expediting
- Resolving inbound material discrepancies
- GR/IR and blocked invoice resolution
- Overdue PO follow-up and MD04 exception handling
- Conduct supplier prequalification, strategic evaluation, risk assessment, and development using SAP Ariba.
- Coordinate with suppliers and project teams to clarify technical requirements and resolve ambiguities.
- Prepare contract agreements and negotiation reports in compliance with controlled templates.
- Provide delivery follow-up support for exceptional cases as requested by project teams.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of experience within supply chain, procurement with a bachelor’s degree. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Proven experience purchasing machinery, equipment, or materials / services within the industrial sector
- SAP proficiency is mandatory.
- Strong background in vendor management with a customer-focused mindset (internal and external)
- Skilled Influencer, possessing strong diplomacy, teamwork, & interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assess priorities, demonstrate flexibility and understand sense of urgency.
- Familiarity with sending RFQs to approved suppliers and introducing new suppliers as necessary.
- Must be willing to relocate to Charlotte, NC if not already based in the area.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
