About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Buyer, you are responsible for supporting the quotation process, executing purchasing activities, and managing end‑to‑end tracking of machines, equipment, and materials required for the Charlotte transformer plant. This role ensures procurement activities are aligned with project requirements, schedules, and quality standards.
You will address project‑specific procurement challenges in close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, while maintaining strict adherence to established procurement policies, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards.
Success in this role requires strong interdisciplinary coordination, working closely with commercial, technical, and operational stakeholders to support on‑time and cost‑effective project delivery.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Apply and ensure compliance with global procurement processes, systems, and Purchase‑to‑Pay (P2P) standards while supporting cost‑saving negotiations
- Manage end‑to‑end placement and administration of direct and indirect purchase orders
- Execute standard through complex procurement activities, including PO maintenance, expediting, discrepancy resolution, and invoice/GR‑IR issue management
- Conduct supplier prequalification, strategic evaluation, risk assessment, and supplier development using SAP Ariba
- Coordinate between suppliers and project teams to resolve technical clarifications and ensure alignment
- Prepare contract agreements and negotiation reports and support delivery follow‑up in exceptional project cases
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field preferred, with 5+ years of experience in supply chain or procurement. Candidates with more experience may be considered for a higher level and vice versa.
- Proven experience purchasing machines, equipment, materials, and services
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP
- Strong vendor management experience with a customer‑focused, collaborative approach supporting both internal and external stakeholders
- Adaptable, experienced cross‑functional communicator with strong critical‑thinking skills
- Skilled influencer with demonstrated diplomacy, teamwork, and interpersonal abilities
- Experience issuing RFQs to approved suppliers and introducing new suppliers as needed in alignment with approved supplier lists
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
