About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Bid Manager, you will orchestrate the end-to-end proposal development process for strategic opportunities within the service organization. You will serve as the central point of contact, project managing the creation of high-quality, compelling, and compliant bids. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including sales, engineering, legal, finance, and senior management to ensure that all proposals align with the company's business objectives and the customer's requirements. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the bid team, developing detailed project schedules, assigning responsibilities, and driving the process to meet strict deadlines. This includes developing win strategies, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring all deliverables adhere to internal and external quality standards. You will be instrumental in structuring complex proposals, integrating vendor tasks, and preparing comprehensive reports on bid status, costs, and resource allocation. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a strong background in project management and sales operations. You possess exceptional organizational and leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple, interrelated projects simultaneously. Your expertise in contract and proposal management, combined with strong negotiation and communication abilities, will be critical to resolving obstacles and delivering winning proposals that support our business growth.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- 50% Bid & Proposal Management
- Lead and manage the entire bid lifecycle, from initial opportunity qualification through to proposal submission and post-submission clarification.
- Organize and lead bid teams, assigning individual responsibilities and coordinating input from sales, engineering, legal, and finance stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive bid project plans, schedules, and resource requirements to ensure timely delivery.
- Structure and write compelling proposal documents that are compliant with client requirements and internal standards.
- 30% Strategic & Commercial Oversight
- Develop winning bid strategies, value propositions, and commercial models in collaboration with the sales and business development teams.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve commercial, technical, and logistical risks and obstacles associated with bids.
- Support the negotiation of contract terms and conditions, ensuring they are consistent with business objectives.
- Integrate vendor tasks and deliverables into the project plan, tracking and reviewing their contributions.
- 20% Process & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all bid and proposal activities adhere to internal governance and external quality standards (e.g., ISO).
- Monitor and report on the status of all bid projects, including costs, timing, staffing, and win/loss analysis.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of bid management processes, tools, and templates to increase efficiency and success rates.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 or more years of experience in bid management, proposal development, or project management in a technical or services industry. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
Travel, as needed (~15%).
