How You'll Make an Impact: 
  • Work safely following all corporate / local procedures and accurate completion of all required safety training.
  •  Maintain good records. Follow all processes and acquire vital approvals
  • Collaborate and iterate with Sales; and domain authorities from Engineering, Factory, and Vendors; and other team members, to optimally define project details and requirements prior to Order.
  • Perform front-end technical evaluations, perform basic calculations, and conduct preliminary design/proposal review meetings to mitigate technical risk on upgrade/POA (price on application) opportunities.
  •  Review Client data and perform technical review to investigate if sufficient details are available to develop the upgrade/POA solution and to evaluate existing machinery reliability concerns from a design perspective.
  • Perform technical data integrity checks: review for most current upgrade/POA options available, check mechanical fit / stage spacing requirements, review for the best method of manufacture; check for accurate material selection.
  • Develop Material and Mechanical Upgrade/POA Options to address Client needs/concerns while using findings of technical evaluations to generate good Client value selling proposition statements to generate business.
  • Develop cost model and schedule for proposed solution (hardware, labor, engineering, buy-out, risk, travel, and commercial instrument costs).
  • Develop clear technical/commercial proposals and present data to customers (internal, and external) to collect profitable business for the company. Clear and concise problem statement, summary of equipment history and offering and value proposition.
  • Payback analysis (value calculations, as relevant), detailed scope of supply.
  • Perform & mechanical details as required. Execution logistics plan.
  • Commercial details: price, delivery, terms and conditions of sale, exclusions.
  • Facilitate order entry and commercial review of Client Purchase Agreement and act as interface between Sales and the Factory!
  •  Lead Internal Project Kick-Off Meetings (and external as needed)
  • To support proposal generation, the following are required: Follow the inquiry/application process in a timely manner to identify centrifugal compressor product features.
  •  Develop upgrade/POA solutions, initiate peer review, and write commercial/technical proposals.
  • Successfully communicate (make use of accurate tools at correct time, e.g. phone, e-mail, SMS, Circuit, etc).
  •  Develop and maintain electronic tools to assist other Application Engineers/Application Specialists.
  •  Other miscellaneous duties to support the technical marketing and sales team.

What You Bring
  • Associates degree or equivalent with at least 3+ years dynamic business/technical experience.
  •  Effective communication, interpersonal, and writing skills. Excellent organization and time management.
  • Possess and demonstrate a high degree of tact and professionalism along with an appropriate level of tenacity. Work collaboratively and individually with the same passion and intensity.
  • Proven digital literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power-Point).
  • Travel (estimated 10%) in order to provide support technically to sales and client to help close potential opportunities.
  • Ability to listen to customer needs, develop sophisticated solutions and sell the benefits to the client.
  • The base salary range for this position if based in New York is $65k-$120k. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.   
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Preferred:

  • Experience working for a major rotating equipment supplier.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Dresser-Rand's products and services.
  • Commercial background in selling, costing, and proposal development is a plus!
  • Good foundation in drive train equipment such as steam turbines, motors, gears and gas turbines as well any supporting auxiliary systems.
  •  Experience writing technical/commercial proposals. Experience with ORACLE and/or SAP.
