A Snapshot of Your Day
As an Advanced Craftsperson, you will perform primary and secondary installation and service activities on high voltage (HV) switchgear at various customer substations and industrial sites across the UK. Leading a dedicated ‘Working Party,’ you will oversee the installation of HV primary and secondary plant and associated equipment, while also assisting with commissioning activities as needed. You will maintain the highest standards of safety and quality, representing SE Transmission Service professionally, and collaborate with other teams within SE Transmission Services to ensure project success.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Install High Voltage Switchgear from Siemens Energy and other manufacturers.
  • Perform service activities on HV plant and associated equipment, including primary and secondary work.
  • Lead Working Party activities as Competent Person, serving as Permit Holder or Technical Lead.
  • Handle SF6 gas and ensure compliance with company and client policies.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Liaise with the project manager to report difficulties and plan daily work activities.

What You Bring
  • Experience in electrical substations, construction sites, or related mechanical and electrical industries.
  • Lead working parties and hold Site Safety Documents/Permit for work.
  • Oversee earthing installation and SF6 gas handling activities.
  • Completed a time-served apprenticeship with C&G/NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject.
  • Hold certifications such as CCNSG Leading a Team Safely, SMSTS, or SSSTS.
  • Recognized as an NG Competent Person with SPEN Authorizations and certified in various safety practices.
