A Snapshot of Your Day

The Auxiliary Plant Operator (APO) serves as the eyes and ears of daily plant operations, performing routine rounds throughout the facility to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance. Under the direction of the on-shift Control Room Operator, the APO executes a variety of operational tasks including, but not limited to chemical offloading and handling, equipment monitoring and operation, conducting chemistry rounds, and assisting in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures. The APO is responsible for accurately collecting operational data during daily rounds, entering log information, and following established plant procedures—including strict adherence to safety and environmental policies. The role also includes supporting maintenance activities and assisting with the Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) water treatment plant as needed. APOs play a vital role as part of a team in identifying potential issues early, giving to a safe and productive work environment.

How You’ll Make an Impact 

  • Understands and adheres to all plant safety guidelines and procedures while targeting to maintain an injury-free environment.
  • Identifies problems with plant equipment and clearly communicates the conditions associated with these problems to the Control Room Operator.
  • Assists in scheduling daily maintenance actions, plant configuration changes and varying power generation levels.
  • Performs water quality testing and makes corrections to the process per known operating parameters. Chemical handling is required

  • Participates in plant training and qualification program.

What You Bring

  • Ability to read, write and speak in the English language and perform basic mathematical computations, high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three - Five years of power plant/industry/military experience preferred.
  • Physical requirements – reaching/pulling/pushing, bending/stooping/kneeling, working in industrial environments, heavy lifting, climbing ladders and stairs, working at various heights
  • Communication skills, verbal and written. Ability to learn and train others. Must have mechanical and hand tool skills.
  • Rotating shift work - Ability to work scheduled hours, overtime, both scheduled and unscheduled, on days of relief and beyond regular work schedule. Ability to perform shift work, including holidays, nights and weekends.
  • General knowledge, mechanical ability, working knowledge of equipment and plant systems and boiler water chemistry knowledge. Demonstrate knowledge of various plant systems.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
