A Snapshot of Your Day 

Siemens Energy is seeking an experienced System Engineer to join our team of professionals working on the HVDC and FACTS Control Systems. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain these critical control systems through software development and testing. You as the System Engineer will be responsible for analysing and solving complex system engineering problems, ensuring system stability and functionality, and implementing new features and capabilities as needed.

How You’ll Make an Impact 
  • Design, implement and maintain HVDC and FACTS control systems  
  • Analyze and solve complex system engineering problems associated with these control systems  
  • Ensure system functionality through rigorous testing and maintenance practices  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new features and capabilities
  • Control and protect HVDC and FACTS projects by using state-of-the-art software development
  • Leverage cloud technologies for automated simulations and testing for effective project execution 
  • Define best practices for the simulation environment (Matlab/Simulink) for lean project execution 
  • Interact with stakeholders such as power systems and control experts
What You Bring
  • University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • First professional experience with HVDC or FACTS Control Systems is highly preferred 
  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as Matlab and Python
  • System Engineering expertise with tools such as Simulink or PSCAD 
  • Experience with software engineering tools and methods such as Git and Scrum/Kanban
  • Further you bring the following skills into the team:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
    • Self-organization and structure; you listen to expert opinions and your stakeholders before structuring the next tasks according to requirements 
    • Ability to learn and improve; you are willing to continuously learn and bring this knowledge as added value to the team and projects 
  • Very good English language skills, German language skills are of advantage
