Master thesis: Characterization of microstructural evolution in nickel base superalloys

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a master thesis student at Siemens Energy you will work dedicated to your project, independently but with committed support from a team of materials engineers and experts. Your project will give Siemens Energy essential knowledge about the microstructural evolution of our in-house designed Nickel base superalloys.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • The work will be focused to a large extent on microstructural examinations and identification of measurable microstructural indicators that can be used to construct a model linking the microstructure to time and temperature of thermal exposure.
  • The experimental work will be done at Siemens Energy in Finspång using scanning electron and light optical microscopes.
  • The work will include a literature survey and may also involve thermodynamic calculations to aid the modelling work.

What You Bring

  • No work experience needed.
  • Master student within materials technology or equivalent.
  • BSc within materials technology.
  • Knowledge in Swedish is a merit but not necessary.

About the Team

You will work in a fully equipped metallographic laboratory together with 30 material experts, engineers, and technicians. Good team spirit and friendly atmosphere.

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.

We can offer you employment benefits such as: reduction of working hours, advance vacation, health care allowance and an eventual possibility to a flexible working place.
