A Snapshot of Your Day
This role is an addition to the regional engineering team at the Cilegon Service Center to ensure business continuity for critical repair services in the Asia Pacific region. The position will provide essential expertise in welding and materials to support the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment. To meet these objectives, the role is structured around three core areas: Welding and Repair Process Engineering, Material Science and Failure Analysis, and associated Quality Assurance. This focus ensures that all repair activities are technically sound, reliable, and adhere to both internal and international standards, directly supporting the operational integrity of the service center. Given the focus on specialized repair processes, the ideal candidate will possess practical experience in welding engineering, materials science, and quality control, preferably within an industrial service environment. A degree in a relevant engineering discipline and a proven ability to work independently on challenging technical problems are essential.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- 50% Welding and Repair Process Engineering
- Develop, qualify, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) for component repairs.
- Define and optimize welding and related repair processes for various industrial components, such as turbines and compressors.
- Provide direct technical support and guidance to welders and shop floor technicians during repair execution.
- Select appropriate welding techniques, equipment, and consumables for specific repair applications.
- 30% Material Science and Failure Analysis
- Conduct metallurgical failure analysis on damaged components to determine root causes and inform repair strategies.
- Perform material selection, specification, and verification for repair activities, including recommendations for heat treatment processes.
- Assess component integrity and provide technical recommendations for serviceability and life extension.
- 20% Quality Assurance and Documentation
- Perform and oversee quality control inspections for welding and repair work to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and industry codes.
- Create and manage comprehensive technical documentation, including service reports, repair procedures, and quality records.
- Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance repair quality, safety, and efficiency.
What You Bring
- Certifications
- International Welding Engineer (IWE) or equivalent
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Level II certification (e.g., UT, MT, PT)
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Materials Engineering.
- 2-5 years of professional experience in welding and materials engineering, preferably within an industrial equipment service and repair environment.
