A Snapshot of Your Day

The Transformer Project Manager West will focus on the successful execution of transformer project goals, which include cost, schedule, quality, and technology for the life cycle of the project and across the project portfolio in California. This position is for the west division and must reside in Central California. This project management position is responsible for a variety of project types for the Transmission Service PMO. Projects include large transformer assembly and installations as well as re-gasketing, bushing replacement, relocations, and other service-related transformer projects. These key projects play a pivotal role in the overall business unit performance. This position will be the main point of contract and operational interface into a wide range of Siemens Energy entities, that supply and support many electrical technologies. A successful candidate will have experience handling contracted vendors, providing direction to field service personnel, and coordinating factory operations. Leading project execution activities, inter-departmental communication, and operational logistics.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Leading all project phases, coordinating them from inception through completion, and assuming financial responsibility for the overall performance of the project.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents, to be applied between customers and Siemens Energy partners.
  • Establish achievements and supervise adherence to master plans and schedules.
  • Review and fully understand the project’s agreement/contract, specifications, clarification and exceptions, the scope of work, budgets, and allowances before commencement.
  • Monitor project progress, cost of labor, material, and efficiency for project control and provide regular updates to team, management, and PMO.
  • Efficiently communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Review proposals and contract orders for accuracy and risk assessment
  • Provide project revenue and profit forecasts as part of regular project status updates.
  • Support the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, Construction Management, or similar technical subject area from an accredited university or college
  • Must reside in the state of California.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification with sophisticated knowledge of project management processes & tools
  • Transformer installation. Electrical installation and/or construction project management experience of 3 years, or more, preferred, experience in projects with operating budgets >$1 million with a minimum of 3 years industry experience required.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and a solid track record of collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, including program management, services, engineering, operations, and logistics.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leading subcontractors and/or field service personnel.
  • Tried experience in developing and leading project communication plans.
  • Validated expertise in project commercial reporting and risk management.
  • Experience in project closure and handover processes
