A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)
The Technical Support Engineer, collaborates with the Engineering Manager – North America, supports O&M plants across North and South America and collaborates with internal teams, including O&M Back Office, Engineering, EHS, Quality, and Long-Term Programs. The role works closely with site leads, typically Plant Managers!
How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)
- Provide technical support to O&M facilities across North and South America, conducting real-time and historical plant performance analysis, RCA-style investigations, and professional reporting for partners.
- Interpret and apply engineering documentation, including control logics, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and other power plant drawings, to fix and optimize operations.
- Support plant management in resolving operational concerns, forced outages, and spare parts logistics while assisting in planning and completing outages using TMS processes, BSOLs, and PCM system items.
- Review and recommend efficient product modifications and improvements (e.g., BSOLs, TAs, PIBs, Prod Mods) while ensuring operational feedback advises future designs and fleet-wide lessons learned.
- Address issues from condition-based maintenance programs, collaborate with repair teams to maintain proper standards and schedules, and work with engineering teams to resolve operational challenges.
- Apply Siemens tools such as PCM, SAP, and WRIT to investigate and resolve technical issues, analyze data from plant DCS and CMMS systems, and act as the primary technical liaison between Plant Managers and HQ.
What You Bring (requirements)
- Bachelor of Science degrees or equivalent experience in Engineering, Thermodynamics, Computer Science, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of Combined Cycle Power Plant operation, maintenance, plant engineering or power plant commissioning experience.
- Understanding of, and experience in, large rotating equipment, Steam and Gas Turbine Generators, DCS systems associated Electrical, Instrumentation and Control systems, mechanical systems, heat exchangers, Water treatment plants, Cooling tower systems maintenance systems (planned and corrective)
- Motivated self starter and team-player that can identify and complete tasks with minimal direction.
- Understanding of Maintenance Philosophies, supervising key asset metrics such as MTBF for assigned plants, prepare CMMS reports and advocate for enhancements, as needed.
- 25% travel including extensive onsite presence during scheduled and forced outages, special projects and customer meetings. May be short notice before travel!
