A Snapshot of Your Day

As part of Siemens Energy’s contribution to the global electrification trend, the Grid Technologies – Grid Automation team is looking for an experienced professional specialized in Substation Automation for High‑Voltage and Medium‑Voltage Substations.

In this role, you will be responsible for the successful execution of control system concepts, system design, planning, and engineering deliverables for HMI/SCADA solutions within electrical substation control systems.

You will develop and validate automation technical solutions, review customer specifications and engineering standards, and ensure full technical compliance. Collaboration is key—you will work closely with bid management, project management, subject‑matter experts, and suppliers in the field of secondary control systems.

Our automation solutions support customers across the Americas and worldwide.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Manage customer specifications and define control system requirements for substation automation projects.
  • Develop architecture and concept diagrams for substation control systems and communication interfaces, including RTUs and IEDs, ensuring compliance with standards from the Mexican TSO (CFE).
  • Configure, test, and commission RTU/SCADA/HMI systems for high‑voltage substations, in alignment with CFE requirements.
  • Lead and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for control and automation systems.
  • Prepare project‑specific technical documentation such as functional design specifications, test protocols, and reports, following customer standards including CFE.
  • Implement and enhance cybersecurity measures within project solutions.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in engineering of HMI/SCADA systems for power transmission and distribution, with strong familiarity with the Mexican market. Candidates with broader experience may be considered for a more senior level.
  • Strong knowledge of regulations, technical standards, and specifications for control and measurement systems used in the Mexican electrical network (CFE).
  • Proficiency with HMI applications and substation automation configuration tools, such as SEL AcSELerator RTAC, SEL AcSELerator Quickset, and optionally Zenon.
  • Solid understanding of OT networking and communication protocols used in automation systems (e.g., IEC 101, IEC 104, IEC 61850) and process data integration.
  • Availability to travel up to 20%, including trips to the USA (valid B1/B2 visa or renewal process required).
