A Snapshot of Your Day

We are looking for a ServiceNow ITOM Specialist who will own the solution design, technical governance, and quality validation of ITOM capabilities delivered through an implementation partner. This role is accountable for ensuring that Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, CMDB, and Cloud Management solutions are architected correctly, aligned to business requirements, and implemented to ServiceNow best practices — without requiring hands-on configuration by the individual themselves. The ideal candidate brings strong ITOM domain expertise and the ability to critically review and challenge a partner's technical approach.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Define the solution design and technical approach for ServiceNow ITOM modules including Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, Orchestration, and Cloud Management in collaboration with implementation partners.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into clear technical specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Review and validate design documents, technical configurations, and CMDB data models for scalability, quality, and adherence to ServiceNow best practices.
  • Own CMDB health and governance, including CI class models, reconciliation/IRE rules, and data certification standards.
  • Evaluate and approve discovery schedules, MID Server architecture, and credential management strategies.
  • Review service maps to validate accurate application and business service dependency representation.
  • Validate Event Management rules, alert correlation logic, and monitoring tool integrations such as SolarWinds, Nagios, SCOM, Splunk, AppDynamics, and Datadog.
  • Assess integration designs between ITOM and ITSM processes, including Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
  • Conduct technical reviews, UAT validation, and quality audits of partner deliverables before production deployment.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for internal stakeholders and implementation partners, ensuring design intent is maintained throughout delivery.
  • Maintain architecture documentation, design standards, and governance frameworks.

What You Bring

  • 6–8 years of overall IT experience, with strong working knowledge of ServiceNow ITOM (hands-on configuration experience preferred but not mandatory for this role).
  • Strong conceptual and design-level expertise in:
    • (horizontal & vertical discovery, MID Server architecture, credential strategy)
    • (application dependency mapping approaches, pattern-based vs. traffic-based mapping)
    • (alert correlation strategy, event rule design)
    • (CI class modeling, relationships, data governance, reconciliation/IRE)
    • (AWS/Azure/GCP discovery and provisioning concepts, preferred)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and critically assess technical design documents and configurations produced by third parties.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes, particularly Configuration and Asset Management.
  • Familiarity with integration patterns (REST/SOAP, IntegrationHub) sufficient to validate partner-proposed integration designs.
  • Experience working in a governance, solution architecture, or technical product owner capacity with an external implementation partner or vendor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServiceNow certifications such as CSA, CIS-Discovery, CIS-Event Management, or CIS-Service Mapping (valuable for credibility in design reviews, even without daily hands-on configuration).
  • Experience governing implementation partner on ServiceNow implementation
  • Exposure to AIOps capabilities within ServiceNow.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess technical solutions critically.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and vendor governance skills.
  • Confident, assertive communicator able to challenge and negotiate with implementation partners.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on solution quality and long-term scalability
