Project Controls is that element of a project that keeps it on-track, on-time and within budget. Project controls provides accurate and timely information to the project management team that will enable them to make informed decisions and take vital actions to accurate any possible adverse situations or trends. Project controls is the data gathering, management and analytical processes used to predict, understand, and constructively influence the time and cost outcomes of a project or program; through the communication of information in formats that assist effective management and decision making.

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering or Business field
  • 10+ years relevant working experience, including experience in the large, Global oil and gas projects, and working with EPCs. Relevant site experience is helpful.
  • Extensive knowledge of project controls concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Solid understanding of Earned Value Management Techniques
  • Sophisticated Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project experience, specifically the ability to develop, maintain, and update detailed schedules; resource loading; ensuring adherence to quality standards; crafting reports along with a detailed and accurate analysis highlighting areas of concern, to include possible recovery actions as needed.
  • Must have sophisticated skills in Excel to include Macros / Visual Basic, V-lookups, Pivot tables, Sum if Formulas and ERP experience (i.e., SAP, Oracle).
Your responsibilities
  • Critical Path Schedule Ownership and Management: Working with the project management team, candidate will take full ownership of project schedule. This includes but is not limited to developing, monitoring, and maintaining relevant schedules
  • Schedule reporting, critical metrics, and Corrective Action / Recovery Plans: Candidate will be responsible for all internal and external schedule reporting, including development, tracking, and reporting of required critical metrics. As the situations warrant, candidate will work with various project teams to identify, develop, and implement corrective action / recovery plans
  • Progress Tracking and Reporting: Prepare and maintain progress S-curves, manpower histograms, and overall percent complete / earned value as the need arises. Specific projects may require field installed quantities and site action progress supervising as well
  • Claim Management Support: Assist the Contract and Claims Manager by assessing and documenting the impact of late deliverables, materials, etc. from customers, vendors, internal sub-suppliers, etc. Leverage use of factual historic Project Controls data as support to claim management process. Provide feedback and mentorship on overall claim management strategies.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management: Provide inputs to project risk and opportunity register thru out entire life cycle of project. Proactively identify potential risks and work with project team in developing and implementing mitigating actions plans. Search for opportunities and assist with developing said opportunities.
  • Contract Requirement Management: Assist project team in producing, managing, and supervising relevant contractual deliverables (i.e., monthly reports; percent complete metrics; S-Curves, etc.)
  • Project Deliverables: Assist PM team in tracking and management of applicable project deliverables. Support project audits as required.

This role is strongly embedded within the Project Management Organization and would lead to opportunities as the Project Controls lead for large, strategic, high-profile projects. This is an expanding role within Project Execution and there will be opportunities to influence, develop and improve upon existing processes and methodologies.
