A Snapshot of Your Day
This role is a replacement to ensure business continuity within the Engineering team for the Gas Services' Controls, Digitalization & Nuclear I&C unit in China. As an experienced professional, the position will support the execution of critical engineering projects in a hands-on capacity. To meet these objectives, this role focuses on three core areas: the technical implementation and commissioning of electrical and control systems, advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution, and the creation of essential project documentation and quality control. This structure ensures that both new project delivery and the stability of existing systems are maintained. Given the focus on practical application, the ideal candidate will be an experienced professional (P2 level) with demonstrated expertise in electrical equipment, control systems, and automation. A background in applying engineering principles to solve difficult, practical problems is essential for success in this role.
How You’ll Make an Impact
50% Electrical & Control System Implementation
- Apply electrical engineering principles to support the development and implementation of control systems and automation solutions for gas service applications.
- Install, configure, and test electrical components, equipment, and networks according to project specifications and engineering drawings.
- Perform commissioning activities for electrical and I&C systems, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure the successful integration of electrical systems within larger projects.
30% Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Independently diagnose and resolve difficult technical issues related to electrical equipment, motor controls, and control systems.
- Utilize test equipment such as oscilloscopes to conduct investigations and validate system functionality.
- Provide technical support during the lifecycle of a project, addressing issues as they arise to maintain project timelines.
- Implement corrective actions and contribute to continuous improvement processes to prevent recurrence of issues.
20% Project Documentation & Quality Control
- Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation, including engineering drawings (using tools like AutoCAD), test procedures, and reports.
- Execute quality control checks and quality assurance protocols to ensure all work complies with internal and external standards.
- Document all troubleshooting steps, findings, and resolutions in the appropriate systems for knowledge sharing and auditing purposes.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, Automation, or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years of professional experience as a Project Engineer, I&C Engineer, or Electrical Technologist, preferably within the energy, power generation, or industrial sectors.
- Proven experience working independently on difficult technical problems with general supervision.
- Experience of Electrical & Control Systems Engineering, turbine control using T2000 or T3000 is preferable.
