A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Project Engineering Manager (f/m/d), you lead the project engineering team of major offer or execution projects for HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current converter) or a FACTS SynCon stations; you might also contribute to projects in the Power Plant or Hydrogen business.

The position involves the management of interfaces among the different disciplines and partner (internal and external), ensuring engineering deliverables are in quality and time, proactive management of engineering-related risks and opportunities and ensuring compliance with technical contract requirements and documentation standards, all contributing to the success of Siemens Energy’s business portfolio.

After aligning within the Project Management Team, including the General Project Manager and Commercial Project Manager, you engage in a vital discussion with the consortium partner to refine and clarify project requirements.

Following this, you conduct a status meeting with your international engineering team on the 3D-model, ensuring detailed coordination between disciplines and compliance with project requirements. You also conduct individual meetings with team members to address process and collaboration improvements.

The day wraps up with a productive discussion with Site Management, setting the focus for your upcoming Site visit next month.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Provide leadership, integration, coaching and motivation to the project engineering teams by coordinating different disciplines, role modelling our Siemens Energy Values and Leadership Essentials and include digital means to bring our processes and way of working to the next level of competitiveness
  • Have a data-based overview of engineering progress, quality and timing to effectively manage interfaces between engineering disciplines and partners and implement processes to ensure engineering deliverables meeting contract, legal, standard and site requirements and being (technically) consistent and on time
  • Effectively support project management activities in tender and execution projects with engineering-related contributions regarding requirements management, a workable engineering project schedule, proactive risk and opportunity management, cost controlling, claim management, etc
  • Be part of the Continuous Improvement Process by providing lessons learnt and provide solutions to further develop standards and ways of working beyond your project
What You Bring
  • University degree in an HVDC-related engineering field, preferably electrical engineering, including long-standing years of industry specific experience and minimum 5 years of experience in technical project management; additional experience in site management is welcome
  • Demonstrated ability in engineering fields of the energy infrastructure business and EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) market within a project team
  • Applied knowledge in project management principles and methods
  • Experience in leading an international, globally dispersed project engineering team to achieve the highest team performance results
  • A strong customer focus, including the capability of changing perspectives and adapting strategies and actions to meet the needs of the dynamic environment
  • Flexibility and willingness to be present for limited periods (max. 25%) on sites, at customers and 3rd parties around the globe as per project needs
  • Excellent spoken and written expression in English; additional languages, especially German, are an advantage
