- Develop and validate detailed simulation models of high-voltage AC grids and their interaction with power electronic converters (e.g., MMC, VSC).
- Analyze dynamic grid behavior under various operating conditions, including fault scenarios, frequency and voltage disturbances, and black-start capabilities.
- Evaluate compliance with international and regional grid codes (e.g., ENTSO-E, IEEE, BDEW) and support certification processes.
- Design and assess grid-forming and grid-following control strategies for converter-based resources.
- Collaborate with hardware, control, and system engineering teams to ensure integrated system performance as well as with control and modulation experts to ensure seamless hardware-software co-design and system-level performance.
- Support R&D and innovation projects with simulation-based insights and recommendations.
- Document findings and contribute to technical publications, standards, and internal knowledge bases.
- Contribute to R&D roadmaps, patent filings, and technical publications to position the organization as a leader in system integration and grid compliance.
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
- Strong background in power system simulation and power system dynamics.
- Proven experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or EMTP.
- Familiarity with grid code requirements and compliance testing for converter-based systems.
- Knowledge of grid-forming inverter concepts and their role in future power systems.
- Analytical approach, structured working style, and strong communication skills.
- Fluent in English; German language skills at C1 level are appreciated for fluent communication in technical environments.
