關於職位
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to write your master thesis on a subject that combines your interest in advanced manufacturing strategy, operational efficiency, and investment analysis?
We are now looking for a master thesis student to explore decision-making frameworks for post-processing operations in additive manufacturing (AM)—specifically evaluating make vs. buy criteria and identifying when to invest in additional power handling equipment to support production scalability and reliability.
You will work closely with our AM Order Management team as well as the AM Management team in Finspång, gaining insight into real-world production challenges and strategic planning processes.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Investigate key criteria influencing make vs. buy decisions for post-processing steps such as heat treatment, surface finishing, and inspection.
Analyse cost, quality, lead time, and risk factors in outsourcing vs. in-house operations.
Evaluate current and projected powder demands in AM operations and identify thresholds for investing in new powder handling infrastructure.
Develop a decision-support model or framework to guide strategic investments and operational choices.
Present recommendations aligned with Siemens Energy’s sustainability and digitalization goals.
What You Bring
A background in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or business engineering.
Interest in additive manufacturing, strategic planning, and operational analysis.
Experience working independently and collaboratively in technical and business environments.
Proficiency in expressing ideas in speech and writing in English (knowledge of Swedish is a plus but not required).
A structured, analytical mindset with curiosity and strong communication skills.
