A Snapshot of Your Day
As a General Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating a range of manual and CNC machine tools to produce high-precision components. Working closely with production and engineering teams, your day will involve interpreting technical drawings, machining parts to specification, inspecting finished components, and ensuring quality and safety standards are consistently met across the workshop.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Set up and operate both manual and CNC machinery to manufacture precision parts.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications to determine machining operations.
Measure and visually inspect completed parts to ensure conformance to manufacturing documentation.
Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to maintain optimal performance.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with health and safety procedures.
Record and report production data, including quantities produced and any deviations from specification.
What You Bring
Completion of a recognised Level 3 apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or a relevant technical qualification in engineering.
Proven experience working as a machinist within a manufacturing environment.
Experience operating machine tools such as lathes, borers, and grinders.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and machining specifications.
High attention to detail and accuracy in measurement and inspection.
Flexibility to work shifts and overtime when required.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
A proactive attitude towards continuous improvement and quality.
About the Team
Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
